Simulating Fluids in Zero Gravity
نویسنده
چکیده
A lot of research has been conducted on achieving realistic fluid simulations: waves, flow, waterfalls, etc. This paper focuses on a less talked about aspect of fluid simulation: the behavior of liquids in zero gravity. Unlike in most other situations which are dominated by gravity, surface tension becomes the key phenomenon of the simulation. A spring-connected system of particles is used to model the surface tension of the fluid. The system is executed for a series of steps (at regular intervals of time), which then are rendered and become frames of an animation. Some details need further refinement, but overall the results are very

Diagnostic Value of Measurement Specific Gravity by Refractometric and Dipstick Method in Differentiation between Transudate and Exudate in Pleural and Peritoneal Fluid
Background: Accumulation of pleural and peritoneal fluid is seen in some diseases. In order to diagnose the disease and start the treatment, one of the most important actions will be to differentiate between exudates and transudates. The objective of this study was to determine the diagnostic value of measuring the specific gravity of the fluid through...
متن کاملSimulating nonlinear behavior of CMD material in seismic analysis of concrete gravity dam
In recent years, a new type of dams namely CMD, has attracted so much attention. Different amounts of cement cause a type of behavior that be somewhere between those of embankment dams and conventional concrete dams. This behavior is not perfectly clarified and its analysis, especially under dynamical loading and in nonlinear region of the material, remains unclear. In this paper, Tobetsu dam h...
متن کاملInvasion Percolation in Presence of Gravity
Simultaneous capillary dominated displacement of the wetting and non-wetting phases are processes of interest in many disciplines including modeling of the penetration of polluting liquids in hydrology or the secondary migration in petroleum reservoir engineering. Percolation models and in particular invasion percolation is well suited to characterize the slow immiscible displaceme...
متن کاملModels of Low-speed Flow for Near-critical Fluids with Gravitational and Capillary Effects
We study low-speed flows of a highly compressible, single-phase fluid in the presence of gravity, for example, in a regime appropriate for modeling recent spaceshuttle experiments on fluids near the liquid-vapor critical point. In the equations of motion, we include forces due to capillary stresses that arise from a contribution made by strong density gradients to the free energy. We derive for...
متن کاملNumerical models for ground deformation and gravity changes during volcanic unrest: simulating the hydrothermal system dynamics of a restless caldera
Ground deformation and gravity changes in restless calderas during periods of unrest can signal an impending eruption and thus must be correctly interpreted for hazard evaluation. It is critical to differentiate variation of geophysical observables related to volume and pressure changes induced by magma migration from shallow hydrothermal activity associated with hot fluids of magmatic origin r...
